Awake isn't the same as active
Two things people mix up daily. Understanding the difference saves you trying five apps that don't solve your problem.
Sleep vs presence
“Keep awake” means stopping the screen turning off or the device sleeping. Caffeine, KeepingYouAwake or browser Wake Lock tabs do this. It's useful for downloads or presentations.
“Stay active” means keeping your inactivity below the threshold Teams, Slack or Discord use for presence. And that's the nuance: your screen can be on (awake) and you still show “away”, because you've gone minutes without moving the mouse.
A jiggler that moves the mouse fixes it
Only resetting the idle clock keeps your presence green, and that needs real input activity (mouse or keyboard), not just preventing sleep. KeepOnDuty generates that real movement, so it solves both at once: your device doesn't sleep and nothing marks you away.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't Caffeine stop me being marked away?
Because it only prevents sleep; it doesn't reset the mouse/keyboard inactivity that defines your presence in Teams or Slack.
Does a browser jiggler work for desktop Teams?
Not reliably. Browser tricks don't always reset system-level inactivity, which is what desktop Teams reads. A system-level app like KeepOnDuty does.
